Amari Yelding
Congratulations Amari, We Are Proud of Your Accomplishment!

Congratulations to our own Amari Yelding, who is one of 62,000 students from across the country to earn academic honors from the College Board’s National Recognition Programs! These National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs use these honors to identify students from underrepresented groups through College Board’s Student Search Service. Amari earned this recognition by excelling on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and in his classrooms. Students who may be eligible have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams; and are African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, and/or attend school in a rural area or small town. Eligible students are invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year and are awarded at the beginning of the next school year. He has a 4.2 GPA and has made a 25 on the ACT. His personal goal is to score between 28 and 30. Amari is a member of the National Honor Society, Ben C. Rain’s Football and Baseball team. He attends Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Daphne, Al. Amari’s hard work to prepare for college paid off with honors from the @CollegeBoard’s National Recognition Program. Colleges and scholarship programs use these honors to recruit students. “We want to honor the demanding work of these students through the College Board National Recognition Programs. This program creates a way for colleges and scholarship programs to connect directly with underrepresented students who they are hoping to reach,” said Tarlin Ray, College Board senior vice president of Big Future. “We hope the award winners and their families celebrate this prestigious honor and it helps them plan for their big future.” “The faculty and staff at Ben C. Rain High School are extremely proud of Amari Yelding’s recognition for academic excellence,” said Ms. K. Williams, principal of Ben. C. Rain High School. This recognition demonstrates his commitment to seeking opportunities to further his goals of attending and graduating from college.
